A crime spree in Hillcrest last week has left residents agog at the brazenness of the perpetrators. Two houses near Knoop Park and another a few blocks south off Kavanaugh have been burgled — one while the owners of the home were in the back yard. The intruder fled with cash and jewelry just as police arrived, managing to evade them.

Left behind: A binder with bible verses and material from some sort of “World Ministries” or “World Mission” organization, the homeowners said.
