LR School Board member Baker Kurrus yesterday distributed to board members a memo on the ownership of a real estate development partnership in which he has an interest. As we wrote earlier, lawyer John Walker had asked for the information after it developed that a real estate company working for the district had identified some of the group’s property as a potential site for a middle school. Kurrus reiterates that he’d not participate should the district continue to be interested in the land and he also noted that, utlimately, the state education commissioner would have to review any deal, should one be proposed. He has said previously that he’d had other uses in mind for the land.
PS — The ownership of this real estate group has been generally known and mentioned in print for years. Walker, who has also filed an FOI for records of the district’s real estate consultant, appears to be hurling mud in hopes something will stick to deter further school construction in western Little Rock.
