Go, Rebels UPDATE

Posted By on Tue, May 6, 2008 at 6:38 AM

A sharp reader mentioned this yesterday, but unhappy Razorback fans have demanded more prominent attention to a Mike Huckabee lip-flap in Mississippi while campaigning in a congressional race. So here:

TUPELO – Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says he's happy for Ole Miss fans, now that Houston Nutt is getting settled as the Mississippi university’s head football coach.

"I'm happy for you," the former Arkansas governor said here on a political stop Saturday. "He's one of the finest people I know."

Huckabee also said he feared Ole Miss will be "kicking the Razorbacks for years to come." Nutt was the Arkansas coach before coming to Oxford.

PHOTO OP UPDATE: I've learned that, when the John McCain bus returned to Central Flying service after a Little Rock stop a little more than a week ago, it happened to arrive at the same time as Houston Nutt, on the Ole Miss plane. Nutt got a royal weapon welcome from LRPD security escorts and Nutt went over to the Straight Talk Express for a friendly hello with McCain and Huckabee. Anybody have a snapshot?

Still more on the Huck-Rebel lovefest, including the story of a gubernatorial lab pup named  Toddy. A comment there led me also to the mikeyhuckabee blog. It is NOT an authorized site.
