In keeping with its editor's policy, seat belt usage was not mentioned in this morning's Democrat-Gazette article about the devastating Florida wreck in which two of seven Conway people on vacation were killed and others were critically injured.

The Log Cabin Democrat supplied the missing detail: Six of the seven were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the car. The Jackson County Floridian provided another detail on the only passenger who is no longer hospitalized.

Dorothy French, of Conway, Ark., was the only passenger wearing a seat belt during the accident that ejected six other passengers, according to Florida Highway Patrol. French has been released from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

If it be editorializing to note this fact, as the D-G executive editor apparently believes, here's for editorializing in news articles. Today's editing recalls a fine discussion on this very topic some time back.
