Political realignment in NWA?

Posted By on Sat, May 24, 2008 at 6:34 AM

Brummett considers the question on account of several election outcomes and concludes that they should be judged individually. Some Democrats saw in the Courtney Henry judicial victory and converted Democrat Tim Summers' House win as hopeful signs for Democrats. I'm reminded that these are precisely the factors that a leading Republican saw as hopeful because they signaled a fracturing of Religious Right hegemony in NWA. He saw this not as good news for Democrats, but good news for old-fashioned business Republicans.

Doug Thompson likewise analyzes outcomes as unrelated circumstances.
