Gil Baker's money machine

Posted By on Mon, Jun 2, 2008 at 1:23 PM

Republican Sen. Gilbert Baker, facing a strong re-eelction challenge from Joe White, has already raised more than a quarter-million-dollars and his supporters say he'll raise $30,000 more at a fund-raiser scheduled Thursday in Conway with former Gov. Mike Huckabee as the marquee host.

Check the link for the host committee. Note Democratic Party chair Bill Gwatney's disapproval of Democratic turncoats on Republican fund-raising events doesn't seem to have had much effect.

Death Star Bob Johnson and Sen. Jerry Taylor (why is he a Democrat anyway?),  to name two Democratic legislators, are on the host committee along with another one-time DINO, former Sen. Stanley Russ of Conway.

The event is at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Dr. T. Michael and Denise Stanton. Huckabee promises to play a little guitar with Baker on drums. Huckabee's invitation letter notes, "We are both pro-life and against illegal immigration." Except, of course, that they did support their friend and UCA prez Lu Hardin's coddling of illegal kids at UCA with in-state tuition and scholarship help. (As did we, but we're not now demagoguing the other side of the issue.)
