Andrew DeMillo writes this week about the three people with Arkansas links at least nominally in the running for vice presidential slots — Hillary Clinton and Wesley Clark on the Democratic side and Mike Huckabee on the Republican side. Huckabee has explanation for the heavy representation by Arkies in the veepstakes — they’ve been fire-tested.

“Nothing I experienced running for president was nearly as brutal and savage as running a race in Arkansas,” Huckabee said last week. “The politics in this state are far more difficult and challenging in terms of sheer bare-knuckle come at you with your head than anything I experienced at the national frame.”
