Arkansas is (70 percent) OK

The Clinton obsession continues in the NY Times with an article about supposed Clinton enemies lists of those who supported Obama. The article finds not a shred of evidence that any actual lists exist, then sets about naming any number of people who appear on these non-existent *hit lists.

It is human nature not to break your neck to do favors for people who've worked against your interest. But this becomes remarkable and newsworthy in the case of the Clintons because of the Times' long effort to depict them as leave-no-village-untorched politicians, as compared with the post-partisan Obama.

Still ... given Arkansas's performance in the primary season, many folks here ought to be able to get a return phone call from Bill and Hillary. (Pat O'Brien? fuhgeddaboudit.)

PS -- On the Hillary front today, a presumptuous sermon from Sally Quinn, the queenbee of Beltway media society, who achieved her lofty perch as the Washington Post's moral arbiter by sleeping her way to the top and finishing the bust-up of her boss' marriage. She now presumes to pronounce on moral matters in the feature "On Faith." In the current edition, she is absolutely Christlike in her judgment of Clinton as possessing "naked ambition" and a "lust for power"; as inauthentic, and, finally, perhaps in need of finding a "loving relationship." Quinn apparently still hasn't forgiven Hillary for spurning a luncheon invite back in 1993. Many contend it was all downhill for the Clintons with the media pack in D.C. after that.

PPS -- Breeze through dailykos.com. The extended caterwauling about the critical attention being focused on Obama and his wife -- the "Hillaryization" of Michelle Obama, as one put it -- is so pitiful as to almost be funny. When you boo-hoo in a forest of only true believers, does anyone hear? The vainglorious  lefty blogosphere may find that the mainstream media isn't so ready to serve as thuggish accomplices in shouting down critics of St. Obama and family now that the hated Clintons are out of the way. It will not be enough for Obama to respond to criticism of a high-up campaign supporter and mortgage wheeler-dealer by ruling the subject out of bounds, as he tried to do here. Republicans play hardball. You don't win by tossing a nerfball back. UPDATE: Obama has thrown his pal under the bus.
