By jove, Bush has done it

The latest Harris poll has Bush favorables at 24 percent, below Richard Nixon's worst and just about in reach of Jimmy Carter's 22 percent.

But that 24 percent looks good compared with Dick Cheney's 18 percent. I was tempted to say you wouldn't want to meet those lunatic 18 percenters in a dark alley, but I'm sure you'd never meet them in a dark alley. You know they're hunkered in a bunker with Cheney -- chicken hawks who'd seek every possible deferment, trick and special pleading to avoid combat.

What to say of the 14 percent who think the country is on the right track? Pray that they don't have children, I guess, and pass those genes along.
