Capital murder charge in child's death

Posted By on Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 12:55 PM

Police announced the arrest this morning of Patrick Lynn Sanders, 22, for capital murder for killing a 22-month-old girl by knocking the baby's head into a wall. The police arrest report said Sanders admitted "slamming" the child to the ground several times.

The death of Jamie Alexander, who lived in an apartment at 7601 N. Chicot, occurred Monday afternoon. Police arrived at the apartment about 5:30 as MEMS attempted CPR on the child. Sanders told police initially that the child had fallen off a bed and when he picked her up she was limp and barely breathing. The child's mother, Tiffany Alexander, 23, told police she'd gone to the grocery store. She said Sanders called her and told her to hurry home.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
