Car thieves arrested

Posted By on Wed, Jul 30, 2008 at 8:48 AM

On the jump, an LRPD report on the arrest of three car burglars, WLR teens all, and a car full of their booty from some 25 car break-ins over a two-night span.

Good news. But, please, folks. If you don't leave anything in your car overnight, there's  nothing for criminals to steal. It's Crime Prevention 101.

On July 30, 2008 at approximately 1:58 a.m., Officer Ted Adkins was in the area of Cantrell and Chenonceau when he observed a white 2008 Chevrolet Impala with a temporary tag, traveling at a high rate of speed. Officer Adkins conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver.

While talking to the driver, Officer Adkins observed numerous electronic items in the seats and on the floorboards of the vehicle, along with alcohol and what appeared to be two marijuana pipes.  The occupants of the vehicle, Steven Jones, 19, of 33 Auriel Drive;  Solomon Kitterman, 18, of  9 Johnson Ranch Road, and Anthony Thomason, 18, of  18122 Cantrell, were then placed into custody.  Officers then located a credit card that did not belong to any of the occupants of the vehicle and was later found to be stolen.  All occupants of the vehicle were transported to the DTDO. The vehicle’s trunk also contained numerous items and was impounded.

During the interview, Mr. Jones, Mr. Kitterman and Mr. Thomason admitted to breaking into approximately ten (10) vehicles during the night of July 28th and approximately fifteen (15) vehicles on July 29th.  Mr. Jones was charged with four (4) counts of Breaking and Entering and Theft of Property.  Mr. Kitterman was charged with four (4) counts of Breaking and Entering, four (4) counts of Theft of Property, and one (1) count of Possession of an Instrument of a Crime.  Mr. Thomason was charged with four (4) counts of Breaking and Entering, four (4) counts of Theft of Property and one (1) count of Possession of an Instrument of a Crime.  Additional charges may be filed at a later date.
