The gloomy forecast

Here's a link to Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam's full speech in Little Rock yesterday in which he, as gently as possible, confirmed the significant job cuts that will be coming here when the company completes its purchase of Alltel. He didn't mention specific numbers, but everyone seems to agree that the job toll could be 1,000, plus several hundred good jobs will be replaced by call center jobs.
