Good questions

Posted By on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 4:33 PM

The League of Women Voters thinks it's time to ask some financial questions of the Little Rock School District. It's the second time in an hour or so that someone has raised questions about the LRSD's financial situation. May mean nothing. But the questions are sound, with a likely drop in enrollment this year, a construction project on the agenda and recent discussions about adding still more administrative slots to a district that Roy Brooks had already left one of the most administrative-heavy in the state.

League of Women Voters Questions

To School Board Members...

We continue to read about the many financial challenges facing the district.  Considering on-going operations, staffing&management changes at the administrative level,  planned capital expenditures for the new West Little Rock schools and the inevitable decrease in funding due to the desegregation lawsuit settlement, there are a multiplicity of issues and options available to you.

Could you share your thoughts to date on these imminent financial decisions?

When will the budget be submitted for your review/approval?

Is the budget ever made available for public review/comment before your approval?

Of course, thank you for all your time and commitment to the students you are helping educate.
