Making animal sausage

Posted By on Fri, Sep 12, 2008 at 2:36 PM

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel and state Sen. Sue Madison apparently still haven't merged forces on animal cruelty legislation. Madison has fought this so-far-losing battle singularly up until now against the bully boys of the cruelty lobby (Farm Bureau and Poultry Federation). McDaniel professes interest in passing meaningful legislation and working with Madison. The Madison side apparently has some reservations about his intentions.

Anyway, here's a draft of a bill that McDaniel has been sending around to legislators with a note that further changes are in the offing. Others with some insight on how this is developing, please chime in. Courtesy of the Fayetteville Trucker.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
