Early, early thread

Posted By on Sat, Sep 13, 2008 at 9:33 AM

Munford, Ernie or someone may yet chime in, but I'm expecting to be out of pocket today. The sun is shining in Manhattan, it's Ellen's birthday and there are places to eat, shows to see and people-watching to be done. So I'll open this thread for an all-day politics watch, weather watch, etc.

Speaking of people watching: I went to a cabaret show last night by Ashford and Simpson, a song-writing couple whose Motown-era hits included "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "You're All I Need to Get by," "Let's Go Get Stoned" and "Solid as a Rock." Great show (the last song turned into "Solid for Barack"). The set included some new material for a proposed musical based on a book by Arkansas's E. Lynn Harris. Over in the corner at Feinstein's, with a young lady friend, was Tavis Smiley. He spoke warmly of trips to Little Rock.

I'll try to check back. I'm watching weather carefully, uncertain what the path of Ike might do to my return trip Sunday.
