I can’t put my finger on why Sarah Palin inspires such furious opposition among many women. Highly educated and accomplished women seem particularly fervent. It’s not just Palin’s positions on abortion, creationism, tanning beds, punishment of political enemies, abstinence-only sex education, empty saber rattling, pork barrel spending and dishonesty about same and much more, lack of experience, a disinterest in the broader world. No, it’s organic. Reminiscent, really, of Clinton hatred, though no one has come up with a Palin kill list yet, except for moose and caribou.

I can’t explain it. Maybe you can. But it has moved even Maureen Dowd to some real reporting for a change, including — miracle — named sources for trenchant quotes. Some good stuff from her trip to Alaska.
