Fed Up to Here forwards a piece from the BBC on British physician slang. Some funny stuff.

As a regular reader of the Blog, he took special note of the chart acronym "DBI."

It means "Dirt Bag Index." With no offense to our Fort Smith stalwart Death by Inches, known to all as DBI:

DBI refers to "Dirt Bag Index", and multiplies the number of tattoos with the number of missing teeth to give an estimate of the number of days since the patient last bathed.
