Perpetual care UPDATE

I have one thing to say about the hubbub about the bankrupt Haven of Rest Cemetery on 12th Street. If the state and/or city take over maintenance of this private cemetery, as some want (story in D-G today, but no link available), where will cemetery takeovers end?

It's unsettling that Little Rock City Manager Bruce Moore is speaking positively about perpetual maintenance by the city, which is currently drawing down reserves to balance a rickety budget. If so, maybe the city could mow my yard, too. It's just about equally obligated.

UPDATE: City Manager Moore informs me that he has made it clear in talks with the state that city maintenance of the cemetery would be conditioned on receipt of state money to pay for it.
