Beebe on coal

Posted By on Sat, Oct 4, 2008 at 7:18 AM

When Gov. Mike Beebe urges the state's pollution control agency to resist outside pressure in deciding whether to green-light a poison-spewing coal-fired generating plant in Southwest Arkansas, does he mean both pressure from the coal burner and self-interested businessmen and environmentalists? He says so.

He also says he hasn't decided whether he supports a moratorium on coal-fired plants in Arkansas.

Bank it: He won't. Science is slow to reach these shores. The lobbyists got here first.
