Citizens of Fayetteville, arise

Posted By on Sat, Oct 4, 2008 at 11:39 AM

The Iconoclast is scooping the media world in NWA on Fayetteville Mayor Dan Cody's bodacious under-the-radar proposal for the city to pay $26 million or more of the cost of streets and sewers for a big developers' wet dream south of town. (The excuse for the welfare payment is that the city will get a park over a a leaking former landfill in the "bargain".)

Some of the same developers who brought Fayetteville the glorious TIF-hole downtown are behind this raid on taxpayers.

This move ought to get Coody beat in November. Or is Fayetteville so beholden to the "cowbirds" of the Chamber, as Jonah calls them, that this will inspire the overthrow of Mayor Dan?
