What are they thinking?

Another D-G story today bears comment. It's about the understandable concern on the part of some Pulaski County JPs that the overdue and necessary jail expansion may not be supportable at the moment by current  revenues.

Here's one way to provide a little financial breathing room: Drop the imbecilic idea to use $1.2 million in reserves for pay bonuses to county employees including the JPs themselves. The silence from county officials on this is deafening.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
