PS TO B: Medical story won't happen today. Official sources are buttoned up, but there's little doubt that your story is true. Prying eyes and loose lips can get you in trouble.

PPS: On the jump, the early vote update from secretary of state.

Note that today’s cumulative total exceeds our previous statewide early vote total record from 2004 of 300,350.

Early votes cast statewide today as of 5:00 pm: 28,600* (This number will increase as additional voting credits are posted by counties after the polls close at 6:00 pm.)

Total early votes cast statewide as of 5:00 pm: 314,740

Total returned absentee ballots statewide as of 5:00 pm: 26,224

Total absentee and early votes cast statewide as of 4:30 pm: 340,964 (20% of the state’s 1.68 million registered voters)
