Mystery solved re Act 1

Posted By on Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 4:02 PM

I've been reporting, based on AP vote totals, that Initited Act 1 was defeated in Searcy County as well as Washington and Pulaski Counties. It never made much sense that the home of such a noted gay-basher as state Rep. Roy Ragland would vote against an act promoting homophobia. It didn't.

AP apparently got the numbers wrong. A call today to both the Searcy County clerk and the secretary of state's tally show identical numbers. Voters in Searcy County joined 72 other counties in approving the act, 2,288 to 1,278. Credit a sharp-eyed Leslie Peacock for the catch.
