Colleges in crisis

Posted By on Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 6:49 AM

The collapse of financial markets has battered college endowments. Hard times have trimmed state support. If you saved for your child's college education, you have a lot less today than you had a year ago.

Put it all together and colleges nationwide are suffering. This tidal wave should arrive in Arkansas next year. I hear increasing concern emanating from gubernatorial quarters that Arkansas's defiance of the national stagnation in tax revenue can't continue much longer.

I don't think you'll see the rest of the grocery tax disappear in 2009.
