Send in the clowns

Just joking with that headline.

But Mike Huckabee and John McCain are reported to be headed to Georgia to campaign for Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, in a runoff for his seat with Democrat Jim Martin.

Another Arkie angle on that race: Former Arkansas Republican Party director Clint Reed, late of the national McCain campaign effort, is working on GOTV in Georgia for Chambliss.

I wish Reed the same success with Chambliss that he enjoyed with McCain in North Carolina and Florida. But I think he may be with a winner here. And not to make sport of Huck in this case. He did win the Republican primary in Georgia way back when.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
