Over to you

Posted By on Sat, Dec 6, 2008 at 4:33 PM

Don't know about you, but I'm cooking a Santa Maria barbecue in the manner of the neighborhood of San Luis Obispo. Cal. Ranch beans (lots of garlic, a little bacon, dry mustard, tomato puree, chili sauce; unfortunately I can't get the characteristic little pink beans here); salsa; garlic toast; marinated tri-tip, grilled over the coals; salad.

Surely somebody is playing football somewhere.

BREAD-AND-CIRCUSES NOTE: That million-dollar-plus coaching staff at Bentonville High School ($100,000-plus for head coach Lunney and, overall, 82 coaches for the 1,700-athlete school) paid off as hoped when the investment was made. The Tigers won a state championship today. National Merit scholars? Not so many in B'ville, given school size, community prosperity, etc. And this year was better than most.
