Charter school review tabled

Posted By on Mon, Dec 8, 2008 at 2:35 PM

The state Board of Education today gave the Dreamland Academy, a Little Rock charter school, another month to get its budget information together before the board considers whether to act against the financially troubled school. The school is some quarter-of-a-million in arrears on payroll taxes and teacher pension payments. Department staff had earlier denied the school's request for a delay in today's hearing. The school hopes to balance its books by deferring staff pay and pay cuts for top administrators.

All state Board members but Ben Mays and Brenda Gullett voted to table the matter for a month.
