The Obama incident

Posted By on Wed, Dec 10, 2008 at 10:43 AM

The Jonesboro Sun does more reporting today on the massive police bust of students celebrating Barack Obama's victory at a Jonesboro apartment complex election night. The lead is that some apartment residents have backed off allegations of police brutality. One for example, said an original allegation was based on viewing a cellphone video, not an eyewitness account.

The police continue to defend their actions as appropriate to the celebrants' refusal to disperse and the cursing of police and other resistance that followed those orders.

David Koon's article on this for us last week didn't focus on allegations of police brutality, b ut on students' contention that police response to their celebration was an overreaction that some thought reflected racial overtones.
