More judges in hot water

Posted By on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 4:38 PM

The state Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission has announced formal disciplinary hearings against two more judges.

Circuit Judge L.T. Simes faces a hearing for lobbying the mayor of West Helena for firing the police chief and then hearing a case about the chief. Other allegations about his involvement in the case are too lengthy to recite here, but include ordering a local reporter not to write about a hearing in which he participated.

Special Circuit Judge Donald Warren is subject to discipline for ordering a pawn shop, on his own motion while presiding in Pine Bluff, to turn over a mower he claimed was his. Warren, who is a city court judge in Altheimer, faces criminal charges in the case.
