NLR kids get the shaft

Posted By on Thu, Jan 1, 2009 at 3:23 AM

Mayor Pat Hays' scheme to cram a developer enrichment scheme down the throats of NLR taxpayers was approved at the last minute last night, as expected. Still more flouting of public notice and discussion rules. Lots of objections, including on the shaky financial plan for the parking deck that the mayor wants to gift to a hotel developer at the expense of school kids.

Here's a report from NLR Daily News. More to come on the legal front soon regards what now stands as the most misbegotten of any Tax Increment Finance District attempted in Arkansas since then-Rep. Dustin McDaniel led creation of this monstrous law to help Jonesboro developer Bruce Burrow get schoolkids' help to build shopping centers.
