Such a deal

Seen that ad in the Democrat-Gazette? The one that invites you to send Walter Hussman money ($5 minimum) to buy an ad congratulating Barack Obama? Heck, they'll send a copy of the paper to the White House.

Consumer tip for hard times: You can get the same thing done for way less than a buck with an envelope, sheet of paper and a stamp. And you won't be putting money into the pocket of a newspaper that opposed Obama's election.

It's reminiscent of another favorite newspaper scam (used by papers around the country, fairness requires me to note): That's the one where they invite businesses to provide newspapers in the classroom by buying subscriptions. Anybody ever wondered why a publisher just couldn't provide the papers to the classes for free?
