Granny gets justice -- temporarily

Posted By on Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 4:37 PM

Morning News reports that the grandmother who is among those suing over Act 1 because of the obstacle it creates to her adoption of her grandchild has been awarded temporary custody of the infant. The child had been abused in her parents' home.

Though a judge has found the child will be in a good home with her grandmother and her lesbian partner temporarily, voter-approved Act 1 says he may not later approve her adoption petition as long as she continues to cohabit outside marriage.

The law is an ass.

Again: If I were a legislator, I'd introduce repealing legislation and give fellow lawmakers the opportunity to vote up or down on such a perverse outcome.
