The old revolving door

Posted By on Thu, Jan 15, 2009 at 9:13 AM

Until the secretary of state gets a backlog of filings updated, it won't be easy to check on-line, but I suspect the number of legislators who rolled through the revolving door from lawmaker to lobbyist Jan. 1 will be more than the three listed in a recent Democrat-Gazette article -- Jack Critcher, Daryl Pace and Scott Sullivan.

For example, former Republican leader Michael Lamoureux of Russellvile is now lobbying lawmakers who were his colleagues until 15 days ago. His registration form shows he's representing Progress Arkansas. It's a coalition of energy companies working on a range of issues at the "nexus" of energy and economic development, a spokesman said. The spokesman added it was NOT formed as a response to the global warming commission's work, though inevitably it might have some interest in some issues raised there.
