I dare say you’d have never found a page of promises on specific civil rights issues, including support for the LGBT community, such as these from the new Obama administration, on the Bush White House website. Change we can believe in. Strong stuff. It includes expanding adoption rights for all couples, regardless of sexual orientation, and federal legal rights for LGBT couples.

UPDATE: Financial markets didn’t find anything to believe in today. The Dow was off more than 300. Fears about the global financial crisis overcame any euphoria about the new president.
