Protecting acts against animals

Posted By on Sun, Jan 25, 2009 at 7:23 AM

Brummett pretty well nails it on the animal cruelty bill. Though it makes a worthy improvement in the law, it does so only by including page after page of protection for all manner of things you can do TO animals. Our Insider this week detailed humane workers' unhappiness about precisely these steps taken to mollify the Farm Bureau and Poultry Federation and those who use pain in animal training.

Speaking of Brummett: His blog this weekend raps Gov. Beebe vigorously for grandstanding by announcing that he'd renounce the pay raise he signed for state officials and employees. Easy for a wealthy trial lawyer with an all-expenses-paid living situation to do, he observes. Brum promises more flaying of Beebe Tuesday.
