A vote for democracy

Posted By on Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 6:32 AM

Rep. Monty Davenport is back with his bill to add Arkansas to the states that want to see the president elected by popular vote. It would instruct a state's electors in the Electoral College to vote for the winner of the national popular vote count. It effectively ends the Electoral College -- and the sometimes perverse extra influence of small states -- without having to do so through a constitutional amendment process.

Good idea.
