‘I’M SO YOUNG AND YOU’RE SO OLD’: Gov. Beebe, joined by, among others, fron left, Billy Lee Riley, state Rep. J.R. Rogers of Walnut Ridge and Sonny Burgess, pitches in on ‘Diana.’ Photo courtesy governor’s office.
My guv is red hot. Your guv ain’t doodly squat. To adapt a line from the old Billy Lee Riley song. HOT LINK: Rod Bryan has Billy Lee here.
Gov. Beebe signed the bill today designating a stretch of U.S. Highway 67 as Rock n Roll Highway 67. The stretch includes the guv’s high school stomping grounds of Jackson County. Honky tonk rockers Riley and Sonny Burgess were among the musicians on hand to provide an appropriate musical sound track.
Inspired, Beebe grabbed a guitar and picked a minute or so and contributed some vocals, too, on the Paul Anka hit “Diana.” My caption is drawn from the lyrics, in the event you’re a youngster.
UPDATE: Why stop with a highway? Lindsey Millar notes over on our Rock Candy blog that Oklahoma held a contest for the state’s “official rock song.”
Why not Arkansas?
Lindsey opens balloting with his nomination of Black Oak Arkansas’s “Hot and Nasty.”
