The latest splinter group

Posted By on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 7:11 AM

It's a group of self-avowed centrist Senate Democrats, including Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor. Brummett sees it as a) a re-election device and b) a problem for President Obama.

Brummett, by the way, offers on his blog a more insightful account of Friday night's "antique road show" of Pryor, Bumpers and Clinton at the Kumpuris lecture than was provided in the Saturday morning paper.

No, I didn't get to the Arkansas Institute opening after all. But I've seen the building and it's an instant public treasure. Library director Bobby Roberts deserved the praise heaped on him last night for seeing the project through amid some naysaying.

I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
