Sen. Lincoln: 'Wanker'

Posted By on Fri, Apr 3, 2009 at 1:24 PM

Duncan Black awards his uncoveted Wanker of the Day prize on his hugely popular Eschaton blog to none other than U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln. Her achievement: Leading a group of nominal Democrats into a combine with Republicans to grant a half-a-trillion in tax breaks to the wealthiest people in America.

Blanche's Billionaire Bailout.

Black cites an American Prospect note. Good news there.

But there is some light at the end of the tunnel. For one, the provision isn't likely to make it into the final congressional budget resolution, since both House negotiators and Senate Budget Committee Chair Kent Conrad will oppose it.

The billionaires will remember our senator fondly, nonetheless, come campaign contribution time. The unemployed working stiffs, uninsured, who'll shuffle off the coil leaving only maxed out credit cards, ruinous hospital bills and an upside down car note? Senator Lincoln would tell them what she told me. If we'd just give millionaires more tax breaks, they'd trickle down prosperity on us all.
