LR to LaGuardia

Posted By on Tue, Apr 7, 2009 at 10:29 AM

An inveterate local traveler, knowing of my own interest in better ways to get to New York, passes along news of Southwest Airlines' new Little Rock service to LaGuardia Airport in New York, beginning June 28.

Schedules published in the Dallas Morning News suggest that the Little Rock service will be three one-stop flights a day  through either Chicago or Baltimore. Not the same as a nonstop. But IF it was on the same plane, it would be  better than a change of planes in Dallas or Chicago or Atlanta on another airline, particularly given Southwest's fast turn-around.

Here's Southwest's blog on the new LaGuardia service.

This should make rates competitive on American's flights and the Continental service to Newark. Shouldn't it?

UPDATE: My friend is madly checking future schedules. He thinks, based on what he's seen, that those stops in Chicago and Baltimore will require changes of planes and will NOT be "through" flights. So that tempers enthusiasm.
