The envelope please

Brummett passes out Bubba Awards for legislative session achievement. In it, I see my own theme for the session. When you really get down to it, not much good happened, except on defense. They raised the cigarette tax, enabled the new lottery tax and spent a big chunk of the proceeds on a lot of local interest stuff. Passed mountains of foolishness. Wasted untold hours on trivia.

The only unalloyed praise awarded in Brummett's list is for Sen. Bob Johnson's conversion to protector of the Lake Maumelle watershed. Well, OK, and maybe that given to Sen. Steve Bryles for the Johnny Cash museum pork outlay.
