Looking out for kids

Posted By on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 6:41 AM

The state used a child awareness day yesterday to tout new laws said to provide more "transparency" in cases of child abuse and to prevent children at risk from falling through holes in the state safety net.

I'd just like to add that the Beebe administration continues to stonewall requests for information about the state's efforts, or lack of, in the death of four children last year and the state's failure to act on behalf of a child nearly beaten to death, despite a report to the state agency and the child's presence in a home in which a state DHS worker lived. What did the state know? When did it know it? Did workers do all that was expected of them? If they did not, were there consequences? Simple and fair questions which the Beebe administration apparently has no intention of ever answering, laws or no laws.
