Those warranty calls

Posted By on Tue, Apr 28, 2009 at 10:18 AM

I'm not exactly clear why Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is using Facebook for news announcements. (Just the multi-platform version of a modern attorney general, his spokesman says.) He has a perfectly serviceable office website with same info. But he directs me to Facebook today nonetheless and, in the bargain, you can also got another gander of him by an Egyptian pyramid (though not atop that camel) and read about his favorite books, music, movies and TV shows ("Law and Order," duh).

More seriously, he's touting his office's effort to crack down on those robocalls about extending car warranties. He's seeking information from people who've received and/or responded to the calls.  (I guess I get only about 5 or 6 a day at home.)

ALSO ON THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FRONT: He's running for re-election. And he'll have another fund-raiser next Thursday, May 7, while the Democratic Attorney Generals Association is in town. Fellow named Bill Clinton will help him.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
