Gas well explosion

Posted By on Tue, May 12, 2009 at 2:54 PM

KATV is reporting several injuries in a gas well explosion south of Searcy. Doesn't say what kind of gas well; some may be trapped.

UPDATE: It's a natural gas well. White County sheriff's spokesman Maj. Kyle Stokes says there's no cell phone service to the site, on Gafford Road off South Booth Road south of Searcy, so he's not in touch with emergency personnel on the scene. He said the explosion was reported to the sheriff's office at 2:27 p.m., three injuries reported and possible entrapment reported at that time. Hazmat units and fire departments dispatched. The Office of Emergency Management spokesperson in Little Rock said the White County OEO officer is en route to the site.

Fox 16 has different address: 194 Tank Farm Road.
