Park lodge closed

Posted By on Fri, May 15, 2009 at 12:51 PM

If you were thinking of taking a weekend at Lake DeGray State Park, don't. The lodge had to close yesterday thanks to high water and the threat it could overload the wastewater system, Assistant Supt. Mark Campbell says. A few guests had to leave early and the lodge has notified folks who have reservations to come again another day.

Campbell said the lodge will be closed until Sunday, when parks personnel will re-evaluate the situation. Since a quarter of the campsites are underwater, outdoor camping is closed as well. Campbell said the Caddo River is filling the lake as fast as the Corps is releasing water from the lake today. Logs and debris in the lake; he advises against boating right now.
