Hearts and minds

The NY Times today features a Georgia high school that has held segregated proms since 1971.

Arkansas may have eliminated the last of its racially separate senior dances? (I'm not counting the single-race events held at single-race high schools.) The new issue is same-sex couples at proms, a whole new minefield.

(Photo is from the film made when Morgan Freeman underwrote the first integrated prom at a Mississippi high school.)
