Brummett figures recent developments make Sen. Gilbert Baker the front-runner for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Not that he’s running. Yet.

Doug Thompson observes, however, that Baker could have a Benton County problem. (Remember, he denied former senator and now county judge Dave Bisbee the Senate leadership post by joining The Brotherhood coalition.)

A note for Doug: I do think Baker has at least a few questions to answer re UCA. His family and campaign enjoyed some perks courtesy of the college’s former president. All the while that situation was imploding, Baker was studiously avoiding taking any sort of leadership position in calling for a cleanup. He preferred to talk about UCA AFTER the campaign, he said. Not very forceful. And reflective of his insider status there then.
