High-speed Internet

Posted By on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 5:07 AM

The state library, with help from Bill Gates, is having a worthy meeting today. The Broadband Summit is about getting high-speed Internet access into all parts of the state. Local libraries are a good place to start the effort.

I forget, sometimes, how lucky I am to live in a city with reasonably decent access to wireless and broadband service. You don't have to travel far from LR to hear horror stories. And once you're hooked on the web, you're hooked.

Think about it. We used to think economic development meant open ground, some big streets and sewer connections. But what business would locate somewhere they had to use dialup to access the web? (Or lacked people educated enough to use it?)

Its point is to usurp control of campuses as a reaction to the widespread, but not particularly well-supported belief that liberal political correctness is running rampant on campus.
