Going to China?

You mght look into trip insurance, or something.

CNN notes quarantines of travelers with swine flu symptoms.

I also heard a horror story this morning from my childhood buddy. He flew to Beijing over the weekend, enroute to Ulan Bator to fulfill a long-time dream of crosssing the continent on the Trans-Siberian Railway. For a time, I thought about joining him. Good thing I didn't.

A day after his arrival in Beijing, he was rounded up by Chinese health authorities and quarantined -- in an unairconditioned hotel without a bar -- for a week. It seems he'd sat on the flight over within three seats of a child who'd exhibited flu symptoms. He'll return home after a week in quarantine. No railroad trip. No Great Wall visit, unless he can work it into the few hours between the lifting of quarantine and his flight home. He will get a duck dinner. But it won't be from a famous local restaurant. It will be served from a hotel buffet line on a tray that he carries back to his room. About 200 face-masked people are in quarantine with him.
