Thanks to Carol McCluskey for a report and Stephen Wait for a photo of excitement Saturday in western Little Rock. A 150-pound male black bear wandered into the green space between Aberdeen Drive and the Chenonceau pool and then into Wait's backyard.

The black bear, tranquilized by a dart from wildlife officers, was eventually transported to a wilder neighborhood. But not before he gave a bird feeder a workover. More pictures and video here.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
